Virgen del Rosario Church

The Church of Our Lady of the Rosary is a neoclassical temple built in the 18th century. After the Spanish Civil War, the building was restored as it is today. It consists of a nave with side chapels, choir and Communion chapel. In the building we can find mural paintings from the 19th century, as well as four bells of great patrimonial value. In the bell tower we can find the bells María del Rosario (1892), Santa Teresa de Jesús (1892), San Roque (1981) and the Campana María, or “Mary Bell”. dels albaetsthe oldest of all. This last bell rang when a child died before taking the first communion.  It is a bronze piece from 1513, with beautiful inscriptions and Gothic reliefs.  It was brought from the Carthusian monastery of Portaceli in 1874, when the exclaustration of the religious community took place. In 2019 it was declared an Asset of Cultural Interest, along with other Gothic bells of the Valencian Community, all dating from between 1250 and 1659.

During the visit to the historic center of Olocau do not forget to observe the bell tower, you will recognize the bell of the albaets. because of its small size. To visit the interior of the temple you can enter after the religious service that takes place on Saturdays at 7:00 pm and Sundays at 10:00 am.
